He has produced almost 2200 art GIF-clips receiving the ‘Best Animated GIF’ Award at the 16th Pasinetti Prize - Venice Film Festival in 2019. Twice finalist at the Sovereign European Art Prize, in 2008 in London and 2011 in Istanbul.
A quick sketch of overlapping woodcut tools, arranged on a quarter of the final format, is transformed into a kaleidoscopic bundle: four identical shapes, not mirrored but rotated, create the preliminary drawing for Di Caprio's woodcut, which he simplifies and moulds into an abstract structure. Each casual comment during the process becomes an element that determines the image. By chance, the colour red is mentioned during the conversation, which then becomes the colour of the woodcut. The ‘superficial’ red is taken up by contrast by the title of the film ‘Profondo Rosso’ by Dario Argento. The woodcut itself thus becomes a space in which chance and structure negotiate each other. Every comment, every thought that arises during the process leaves its mark and becomes an unmistakable part of the whole. The woodcut remains in motion, just like the dialogue that accompanies it. In this continuous interaction between form and idea, between colour and structure, an image is created that is never truly finished, but constantly floating in space, suspended between the visible and the hidden, not mirrored but rotated.

Superficiale Rosso
Un rapido schizzo di strumenti xilografici sovrapposti, disposti su un quarto del formato finale, si trasforma in un fascio caleidoscopico: quattro forme identiche, non speculari ma ruotate, creano il disegno preliminare per la xilografia di Di Caprio, che semplifica e plasma in una struttura astratta. Ogni commento casuale durante il processo diventa un elemento che determina l'immagine. Per caso, durante la conversazione viene menzionato il colore rosso, che diventa poi il colore della xilografia. Il “superficiale”, il rosso superficiale, è ripreso per contrasto dal titolo del film “Profondo Rosso” di Dario Argento. La xilografia stessa diventa così uno spazio in cui il caso e la struttura negoziano tra loro. Ogni commento, ogni pensiero che nasce durante il processo lascia il suo segno e diventa una parte inconfondibile dell'insieme. La xilografia rimane in movimento, proprio come il dialogo che l'accompagna. In questa continua interazione tra forma e idea, tra colore e struttura, si crea un'immagine che non è mai veramente finita, ma fluttua costantemente nello spazio, sospesa tra il visibile e il nascosto, non specchiata ma ruotata.

Für seine fast 2200 künstlerischen GIF-Clips erhielt er 2019 den Preis für die „Beste animierte GIF“ beim 16. Premio Pasinetti – Internationale Filmfestspiele von Venedig. Zweimal war er Finalist beim Sovereign European Art Prize – 2008 in London und 2011 in Istanbul.
Superficiale Rosso
Eine schnelle Skizze überlagerter Holzschnitt-Werkzeuge, angeordnet auf einem Viertel des endgültigen Formats, verwandelt sich in ein kaleidoskopartiges Bündel: Vier identische, nicht gespiegelte, sondern rotierte Formen bilden die Vorzeichnung für Di Caprios Holzschnitt, den er vereinfacht und in eine abstrakte Struktur überführt. Jeder beiläufige Kommentar während des Prozesses wird zu einem Element, das das Bild mitbestimmt. Zufällig fällt während eines Gesprächs das Wort „Rot“, das schließlich zur Farbwahl für den Holzschnitt wird. Der Filmtitel „Profondo Rosso“ (Tiefrot) von Dario Argento, wird zum „superficiale Rosso“ - zum oberflächlichen Rot. So wird der Holzschnitt selbst zu einem Raum, in dem Zufall und Struktur miteinander verhandeln. Jeder Kommentar, jeder Gedanke, der während des Prozesses entsteht, hinterlässt seine Spur und wird ein unverwechselbarer Teil des Ganzen. Der Holzschnitt bleibt in Bewegung – wie auch der begleitende Dialog. In diesem ständigen Wechselspiel zwischen Form und Idee, zwischen Farbe und Struktur, entsteht ein Bild, das niemals wirklich abgeschlossen ist, sondern beständig im Raum schwebt – zwischen Sichtbarem und Verborgenen, nicht gespiegelt, sondern rotiert.
