Piermario Dorigatti was born in Trento in 1954. In 1989 he moved to Milan, where he attended the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in Painting. Since 1998, he has taught painting techniques, engraving and art graphics at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, where he still teaches. He lives and works in Milan.
A spontaneous idea, that of a joint creation of a cadavre exquis in the form of woodcuts. This method, originally developed by surrealist artists, allows several people to work on a work, one after the other, without knowing each other's contributions. The idea of integrating chance and intuition into the woodcut technique was translated into the sound of the instruments carving the wood while the artists and students work in concentrated silence. Some opted for abstract motifs, others for figurative elements: an interplay of control and chance, between the familiar and the strange, which ultimately resulted in a surprisingly harmonious whole.

Piermario Dorigatti è nato a Trento nel 1954. Nel 1989 si trasferisce a Milano, dove frequenta l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera diplomandosi in Pittura. Dal 1998 è docente di tecniche pittoriche, incisione, grafica d’arte all' Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, dove tutt’ora insegna.Vive e lavora a Milano.
Un'idea spontanea, quella di una creazione congiunta di un cadavre exquis sotto forma di xilografia. Questo metodo, originariamente sviluppato dagli artisti surrealisti, permette a più persone di lavorare su un'opera, una dopo l'altra senza conoscere i contributi degli altri. L'idea di integrare il caso e l'intuizione nella tecnica xilografica si è tradotta nel suono degli strumenti che incidono il legno mentre gli artisti e gli studenti lavorano in un silenzio concentrato. Alcuni hanno optato per motivi astratti, altri per elementi figurativi: un gioco di controllo e di casualità, tra il familiare e la stranezza, che alla fine ha dato vita a un insieme sorprendentemente armonioso.

Piermario Dorigatti wurde 1954 in Trient geboren. 1989 zog er nach Mailand, wo er an der Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera Malerei studierte und seinen Abschluss machte. Seit 1998 unterrichtet er dort Maltechniken, Druckgrafik und Kunstgrafik – Fächer, die er bis heute an der Brera-Akademie lehrt. Er lebt und arbeitet in Mailand.
Die Idee zu einer gemeinsamen Schaffung eines cadavre exquis in Form eines Holzschnitts entstand ganz spontan. Diese Methode, ursprünglich von den Künstlern des Surrealismus entwickelt, ermöglicht mehreren Personen, nacheinander an einem Werk zu arbeiten, ohne die Beiträge der anderen zu kennen.
Der Gedanke, Zufall und Intuition mit der Technik des Holzschnitts zu verbinden, fand Ausdruck im Klang der Werkzeuge, die das Holz ritzen, während Künstler und Studierende in konzentrierter Stille arbeiteten.
Einige entschieden sich für abstrakte Muster, andere für figurative Elemente: ein Spiel zwischen Kontrolle und Zufälligkeit, zwischen Vertrautem und Fremdem – das schließlich zu einem überraschend harmonischen Gesamtwerk führte.
